Like vs equally

Like = 'similar to', 'the same as' (подобно, похоже, как, как будто, также как)

Note that you cannot use equally in this way:
Обратите внимание, что предлог as не может употребляться в следующих случаях:

• What a beautiful house! It's like a palace, (non 'as a palace')
• 'What does Sandra do?' 'She's a teacher, like me.' (not 'as me')
• Be careful! The floor has been polished. It'southward similar walking on ice. (not 'equally walking')
• It'south raining once again. I hate weather condition like this, (not 'every bit this')

In these sentences similar is a preposition. And then it is followed by a noun (like a palace), a pronoun (like me / similar this) or -ing (similar walking).
В этих предложениях like используется в качестве предлога. Поэтому за ним следуют существительное, местоимение или герундий.

Y'all tin also say 'like [somebody/something] practiceing [something]':
• 'What's that dissonance?' 'Information technology sounds like a baby crying.'

Sometimes similar = 'for example':

You can also apply such every bit (= for example):

Likewise we use as before a subject + verb:

Compare like and as in these sentences:

• You should have done it like this. (similar + pronoun)
• You should have done information technology equally I showed y'all. (as + discipline + verb)

We also say as you know / equally I said / as she expected / as I thought etc.:
• As you know, it's Tom'south birthday next week. (= you know this already)

• Jane failed her driving examination, equally she expected. (= she expected this earlier)

Note that we say as usual / as always (как обычно / как всегда)
